my first was a spiral-bound myth collection from my childhood homeschooling curriculum. the illustrations were black and white, so i colored them in. later i did the same with padraic colum's children's homer.
A clarification: we renewed that book as many times as we could before finally returning it. So your tears were forestalled a few times before the painful separation!
I'd forgotten that part of the story! Kudos to you, Mum, for staying on top of library renewals when I was a kid, as well as keeping me well-supplied with books❤️

Hello fellow homeschooler! My childhood curriculum came with ancient Greek paper dolls that you could colour in. I had so much fun with them...

What a great-looking book! For me it was Rex Warner's Men and Gods that really got me hooked on mythology. I read that book over and over again... :-)
Ooh, I haven't heard of that one before! I've just placed a hold on it at the public library; the illustrations look wonderful :)
